I know this can seem like a really harsh lesson sometimes.  But if you’re taking meds, you absolutely. must. consult. your. doctor. if you want to stop.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

YES THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.seriously I tried that once and I became very ill - please don’t stop taking your medication without first talking it through with your doctor.

I once thought it was okay to go without my anti-depressants for a few days because I didn’t want to bother my mom when she was already short on money.
I cannot stress how much of a bad idea that was.
DO NOT DO IT

Especially if you are on a medication with a very short half life, like Effexor. You will feel ill and shaky and monstrously awful the very next day. Please take care of yourself we love you <3

Reblogging because its important. That’s how I ended up in the hospital with hallucinations and mental instability.

I stopped Effexor cold turkey.
This was a very bad idea and nobody else should do it.
People thought I was going to seriously hurt myself. I nearly got divorced over it. It was a Very Bad Idea.

For my followers, and every other person who need them.

Consult your doctor when yo want to stop taking SSRI medication. There’s a thing called SSRI discontinuation syndrome. It’s not very pleasant.

This isn’t just for mental health drugs. This is for ALL drugs. If the doctor gives you a ten day prescription of an antibiotic, TAKE ALL OF ITIf you have a medical condition (such as a thyroid condition like me) MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT EVERY DAY. If I even accidentally skip a day, I can tell. Be healthy, loves.

The point being: If you think you’re over an illness, don’t stop taking the medication that treats the illnesses symptoms-they are likely to return.
